Lightnin’ Hopkins. A Texas blues legend who taught a new generation to play the blues. He was a cousin to Texas Alexander, shared the stage with Blind Lemon Jefferson, inspired the likes of T-Bone Walker, Bob Dylan and Led Zepplin and was a truly fabulous dresser. More recently, Hopkins became an inductee to Rolling Stone magazine’s top 100 guitarists of all time. Here he is at his best.

Cannon’s Jug Stompers. 1929. A little known Jug Stompers song, supposedly about Germantown, TN, a place where a young man could once make something of himself.

It’s been a very long time since this blog has been up and running. Since we last spoke, I went out and got myself a journalism degree and even got a paid gig or two. Still, I have not forgotten the important things in life. Look forward to more “Bound for Glory,” starting soon. In the meantime, i’ll make up for lost time with a favourite of mine by Little Willie John.
